Self Drive & Tag-Along Tours

At FraserFree we want to make sure you choose the Fraser Island Tour that is perfect for you. You might not realise how many decisions you need to make - where do you want to go on a Fraser Island Tour from, how long do you want to be on Fraser Island and do you want a fully-guided tour or one that involves self-driving?

A guided tour is one where a tour guide also acts as your driver for your tour. He knows the ins and outs of Fraser Island’s tracks and is able to expertly handle whatever Fraser Island throws at him. A self-drive or tag-along tour (sometimes written as tag-a-long) is where you, and other guests on tour, are responsible for getting your vehicle around Fraser Island. This usually involves a convoy of vehicles (anywhere from two to a maximum of four vehicles) with the front vehicle driven by a tour guide. Most guests will have a turn at the wheel however guests will need a driving license to be able to. These tours, due to the number of vehicles, usually involve camping or staying in cabins at a retreat. As the tour involves driving a vehicle yourself there are certain restrictions as well as a need for some training before your tour (the morning of your tour usually).
